The First 3 Seconds
The first 3 seconds of your marketing and promotional video is the most important 3 seconds in all your marketing.
With the world moving at such a fast pace and social media being a petri dish of this rapidly moving world, 3 seconds is all you have. There is so much to see and so much to do. There are so many businesses active in their pursuit of social media reach that 3 seconds is all you have to engage your next potential customer.
The first 3 seconds gives your business the opportunity to engage with the viewer on a personal level. It’s when the decision is made by the viewer: am I interested in this?
When Straightline Media are planning your marketing video, we want these 3 seconds to make sure people do one of three things:
- Continue watching
- Learn enough to find your businesses easily when they need to
- Trigger an action, for the viewer to go to your social media profile or head to your website. That means the viewer is one step closer to your phone, email or being able to contact your business.
No matter your industry or the type of promotional video, it is the visual that matters the most in those 3 seconds. We are visual creatures and that is where Straightline Media will start our planning with those 3 seconds. Whether it is a stunning drone shot or an enticing graphic, we make those 3 seconds about the viewer.
Viewing habits on social media tell us that it is the visual rather than any sound that will attract and keep the viewer, as most viewers will be watching without sound.
Also, as most promotional videos live on social media, the logo doesn’t have to be the first element in the video; it is an optional inclusion as your profile picture should be your logo.
Now’s the time to review your marketing videos. Take 3 seconds to ask yourself if they do enough to engage your potential customer and turn them into a customer.
